In the 1970s, the music industry, especially rock music, was very heavily male dominated. Men were usually the song writers, instrumentalists, and songwriters. Were often overlooked and pushed in the back where no one could hear them or see them. But in the cases that the women were the frontwomen they were frequently marketed as a sex symbol rather than an artist. But Maddie Jacks took this as a challenge in the 70s. That meant that performing her own work or even being one of the main vocalists of a band meant that not only did she have to create the art but deliver it the way she wants not what others want. This gave Maddie Jacks a powerful presence on stage. She controlled the delivery with her lyrics, emotions, and the connection with the audience. But besides that, she used her voice and her music to speak on the topics that were pretty hard to talk about considering she has fans that might not agree with her views or her not typical women like appearance. Fast forward a few decades and she is still a household name, still creating a performing to this day and still inspiring others.
